Investment Management

Utilizing time and asset diversification to manage risk tolerance and achieve your goals.

Investment Philosophy

We use time and asset diversification to, 1) manage exposure to risk, 2) improve the likelihood of goal based outcomes, and 3) provide a buffer against short term impacts to cash flow . At SFM Financial we are guided by Macro-Economic Trends, both  domestically and globally. We work to position clients for long term success.

While we can provide a review of individual equities, SFMFA holds the view that markets are constantly under the influence of manipulative forces, and that those with the greatest influence over market infrastructure are incentivized against the interests of retail investors. For these reasons, we utilize ETF and Mutual fund holdings as the primary tools for equity investing, and we focus on goals based investing.

Prices & Fees

Comprehensive Planning and Asset Management

Investment advising is based on assets under management.  This fee is inclusive of financial planning support and individual financial advising needs that will arise.  The objective is achieve financial goals and to keep gross fees (management, Brokerage, and fund expenses) as low as possible. The planning / Asset management fees decrease as assets managed grow ($100k-$250k @ 0.88%| $250k-$1m @ 0.72% | $1m+ @ 0.6% |>$3m negotiable).

The following is an example of average annual fees that might be paid on $700k, held in two investment accounts:

  • Management fee for a fully invested account (0.72%) = $5,180  (Actual fees may be lower since fees are not withheld on moneymarket/cash balances, an integral part of most retirement accounts).
  • Third Party Brokerage/Custodial fees –  $300-$500+, fees affected by number of accounts and investments.
  • Third Party Fund expenses –  $350-$1,750+.  Fees are taken as an adjustment to the funds fair market value of a fund/ETF and are not seen by the investor (fees for ESG and managed funds can be >3 times this rate).
  • Total Annual Fee, from 0.83% to 1.06%.
